This tag or land owner voucher can be used for any archery season in New Mexico unit 16E elk hunting area or GMU 16E. 3 and possibly 4 of these tags are currently available. Unit 16E is nestled south of unit 15, east of unit 16D (the best unit in the state), and just west of unit 17. The city of Datil New Mexico sits on the north edge of the unit and hwy 52 is the east border of unit 16 E. This game management unit is another of the big game units in New Mexico that has been improving each year. Trophy quality animals have been harvested out of this region for the last several years.
