This area or GMU (game management unit) has the following big game species available: pronghorn antelope hunts, bear trips, elk and mule deer hunting. Any hunter with lots of Colorado preference points should consider applying for this unit as it has been one of the most highly acclaimed trophy bull elk spots in the state for several years. Hunts here are about as good as it gets in CO and the Division of Wildlife manages the herd here for trophy caliber bulls and good bull to cow ratios making the odds of tagging an elk good and hearing those amazing screams during the rut that much more probable as hunter numbers are low and elk population is high. Find a good outfitter or guide here at There are also a good number of bull moose here with rifle archery and muzzleloader seasons each fall.
