Walker Ranch in Unit 2 Colorado is surrounded by thousands of acres of BLM and the Dinosaur National Monument (where no hunting is allowed). The monument helps to create a buffer zone with no hunting and is a great asset in keeping the pressure off the elk. The Walker ranch has several springs and waterholes and most of the adjoining BLM has little to no water so the elk eat, drink and sleep on the Walker ranch. Many of the elk stray onto the surrounding lands but always return for that evening drink and nightly rendezvous with the cows (girls). The ranch consists of over 20,000 acres (deeded and lease combined) and the property location allows us access to thousands of additional acres of BLM that are either not accessible to the general public or extremely difficult to access.
Wanda Walker's Ranch has been famous for trophy Colorado mule deer hunting and trophy Colorado elk hunting in unit 2 for over half a century. The Walkers started guiding trophy mule deer hunters from Texas almost 50 years ago, but have since spent all their time chasing cattle.
Hunting cabins in 3 different locations on their property 2 at higher elevations and one at a lower elevation that allows hunters to live where the elk and mule deer are and not have to spend countless hours driving each day to and from the various awesome hunting spots.
The south end of the ranch is located just east of Zenobia Peak and the north end is located east of Jack Springs. With nearly 20 springs and water holes on the private ground, the big game animals frequent the ranch. These water holes and springs make it great for bow hunting, or just getting a great close up look at unit 2 elk and unit 2 mule deer. There are several roads through the ranch and most areas are accessible via ATV, UTV or horseback. Most hunters utilize 4wd trucks to travel long distances and/or Polaris Rangers for most day to day travel around the hunting ground. The hunting transportation requirements are really up to you and the vehicle you have available. When hunters choose a fully guided hunt the transportation is provided.
Colorado Unit 2 Mule Deer Hunting: on the Walker Ranch started with guided hunts back in the '60s with a large group of Texans making an annual visit to the ranch. The trophy quality suffered during the '90s but has stormed its way back to proportions near those of days gone by. Over the last 5 years, we have taken 5 bucks from 194 gross up to 208 gross. We strictly limit the number of hunters to ensure we keep our trophy success rate high and maintain our management goals. The management of our food supply has made a dramatic impact on the number of deer utilizing our ranch during the fall and in some of our upper parks/meadows, a hunter can often see 60 to 70 deer while taking a drive from the cabin at Chicken Springs to the log house at the Maddux place. Unit 2 mule deer rifle hunting trespass fees can include cabin rental and assistance with detailed maps and a personalized tour of the ranch to show premium locations and show ranch boundaries.
MULE DEER TRESPASS ONLY FEES YOU MUST DRAW A LICENSE
We never allow more than 2 TROPHY DEER hunters on the ranch at any one time whether it is a combination of weapons or overlapping seasons such as archery and muzzleloader.

2019 Mule Deer Outlook: looking to have several 170" bucks and as always a chance at a 190 to a 200" monster. 2018 we spotted a 200" +/- buck several times on the ranch and he was still on the ranch as of late winter this year. We have the genetics for big deer, take a look at the top Boone and Crockett counties in Colorado and Moffat is right there near the top for all-time best. The 2017 season we had a 200" plus buck spotted several times on the South side of the ranch but could not manage to find him while the hunter was present also one of the guides spotted a 200" buck during the 3rd season about 20 minutes after our hunter filled his tag.
All or part of this operation is conducted on Public Lands under special permit from the U.S. Bureau of Land Management.
Colorado unit 2 Antelope hunting: has been in the "trophy" group of GMU's in Colorado for many years. The best hunting is down in the flats and our guides are great at finding and putting hunters in position to harvest an antelope buck of their dreams. Unit 2 antelope hunting trespass fee: $600 includes detail
Colorado unit 2 mountain lion hunting: is done from one of 3 locations in the unit and Rod's hounds are well trained and Rod knows the country like the back of his hand. As a life long resident of the Maybell area, he has spent thousands of hours chasing mountain lions, elk, mule deer, turkey, and antelope right here on Douglass Mountain and Bears Ears.
Colorado unit 2 turkey hunting: can be done on the Walker Ranch and our ranch holds most of the turkeys in the entire game management unit. The original release of turkeys in this area was done on our ranch and if you wish to hunt turkeys in unit 2 Colorado you need to give us a call. There are very few birds on the public ground and in the spring most of the turkeys roost along a ridge that runs right behind the house and one of Wanda's cabins.
