This hunt is for Roosevelt Elk in Northwest California. The landowner tag is a prized tag and allows a hunter to hunt for 12 days.
This tag must be purchased prior to July 30th in order to insure that the hunter has time to purchase a 2018 California hunting license. The deadline to obtain a license for elk in California is August 2nd.
This will be a great opportunity to harvest one of North Americas Roosevelt elk on one of the toughest to obtain Roosevelt elk vouchers or landowner tags in the country.
This tag is $5,000 plus a kill fee of $5,000 for any bull gross scoring over 370 (measured by a ranch hand and the hunter using an official B&C score sheet.
$4,000 kill fee for bulls grossing between 350 and 369
$3,500 kill fee for anyand all bulls gross scoring under 350 B&C (This kill fee is also charged upon any hunter taking a shot at an animal of any size and missing and or wounding an animal or being unable to retrieve the animal) We will allow the hunter to continue hunting but the $3500 fee will be accessed and if the hunter harvest an animal other than the wounded animal that is larger than 349" B&C the additional fees will be incurred.
The elk photos of this year’s lead Roosevelt bull elk that I took on Saturday (July 14, 2012). He is in full velvet and looks like he will score 370 plus by the time season hits. He appears to be a ten by seven point bull. There are four other six and seven point bulls that I have seen around him for the last month. He is currently running with a group of 27 to 28 cows, 10 calves and one 4 point bull. I will be available to any perspective hunter to help. I will have heavy equipment available to help load the elk and locations for processing which we will assist with.
The Northwestern California Roosevelt elk hunt begins Wednesday September 5 and runs twelve consecutive days.
Access in and out of the property is very easy. The elk are hanging our farm lands which are roughly 2000 acres on the flat. Please see the attached a map of the planning units with names of the units we have on the flatter sections of the ranch. The area where the elk are consistently found is the area we call Mosley Ranch. I have been able to drive up to them with 30 yards every time I visit the herd.
To get to Del Norte County can be difficult depending on how much driving you like to do. We do have an small airport that I fly out of frequently that is serviced by United Airlines. You can find it on United’s website under CEC. We have car rental by hertz at the airport. If you chose a cheaper flight, they can also consider flying into Medford Oregon, which is two hours inland via car from the hunt. San Francisco and Portland Oregon are both approximately 7 hours from Del Norte. Please find the attached websites for some travel and visiting information;

Obviously, if a hunter is coming from a great distance and have never seen the redwoods, September is one of the most beautiful times of the year to visit and hunt the majestic California Roosevelt Elk.
